Robert "Bob" Henry Cross

Robert "Bob" Henry Cross died peacefully surrounded by family in Seattle, Washington on November 20, 2019 at the age of 82.

Bob is survived by his wife of fifty-five years, Veronica "Ronnie" Cross; his six children, Carrie (Blythe) Hirst, Tracy (Mark) Morales, Ryan Cross, Katie (John) Milne, Colleen (Loren) Cross and Jennifer (Dan) Bugbee; fifteen grandkids;and his siblings, Carroll Cross (Jan), Elizabeth Searfoss (Rodger), and Beverly Lundgaard (Stan).

Bob was born on October 15, 1937 in Palo Alto, California to Paul and Sara Cross. He graduated from Roosevelt High School in Seattle, Washington and attended the University of Washington. Bob started his career in 1957 at the University of Washington Bookstore. After returning from a one-year mobilization at Fort Devens, Massachusetts with the Army Reserves in 1962, Bob returned to the University (UW) Bookstore, where he was appointed Textbook Asst. Manager. In 1974 he was promoted to General Manager, where he remained for 26 years until his retirement in 2000. Bob met his wife in 1956, and they were married in 1964. Over the next 16 years, Bob and Ronnie welcomed six children into their home, sending them through NE Seattle's catholic schools. Bob's children remember him as a patient and driven father who encouraged them to pursue their goals.

In addition to his career and family, Bob was active on various community and corporate boards. He served as President of the University District Chamber of Commerce in 1976. In 1977, he was elected to the Board of Trustees of the Seattle Department Stores Association. He served on the boards of PCC, the Windermere Neighborhood Corporation, Villa Academy, St. Bridget's Parish Counsel, and The Children's School. Bob was a steady presence in all that he did and was regarded as a trusted advisor to those who were blessed to be part of his life.
The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at Swedish Hospital for their attentive care for Bob.

A Funeral Mass will be held

Thursday, December 5th at 3pm at

St. Bridget's Catholic Church

Reception to follow at the UW Club.
All are welcome to attend and celebrate Bob's life.
