Vy Thi La Obituary (1937 - 2023)

Vy Thi La passed away peacefully the morning of Saturday, July 29, 2023, at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle at age 86. A beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, she was survived by three sons, Hai, Long, and Thanh; seven grandchildren; and three great grandchildren. Vy was born July 20,1937 in North Vietnam. She spent her childhood and most of her adult life in Vietnam before immigrating to the United States in 1998. She lived with her youngest son and his wife in Bothell where she helped raise her three grandchildren. Soon after, her middle son moved her two grandsons to the U.S. to spend time with Vy while they attended school. From time to time, Vy would visit her eldest son, two grandchildren, and relatives in her home country of Vietnam. Vy touched the hearts of many throughout her life. She was a devoted Catholic who dedicated much of her time and care to the Vietnamese church, providing many hours over the years to give back to her place of worship and her community. Every day, she radiated faith, kindness, humbleness, and compassion. Vy will be dearly missed, but her loved ones are so grateful for the time spent with her. Her presence will always be felt in the hearts of friends and family, and her legacy will continue to live on through all those she inspired and loved.
