Tom M. Iwata Obituary (1918

Born in Spokane WA on December 20, 1918 to Seiji and Masuko Iwata. Tom was employed by C. T. Takahashi, Inc. in Seattle were he met Diana Morisawa on his travels to the company's Vancouver Canada office. They were married in Spokane, WA in 1952. Surviving Tom are his children Stanley, David, Andrew, Gordon, Ann Louise, Roger, Jeff; 12 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and, Maggie Hains, the daughter of his loving wife Diana. Tom was part of a large family of 8 siblings and is survived by his sisters Ann Shimizu, and Rose. Tom is preceded in death by his wife Diana, his brother, Harry, and sisters Hatsuko McGee, Chikako, Yuki Matsumoto, Sono Migaki, and Masa. Tom was a dedicated, loving husband and father who enjoyed large family gatherings. He always had a big garden and grew enough vegetables to share. Tom enjoyed boating on Puget Sound, fishing and mushroom hunting in the Cascades. Memorial June 22, 3:00 p.m. (viewing 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.), at Columbia Funeral Home, 4567 Rainier Ave S., Seattle. Funeral Mass with reception following at 10:00 a.m. June 23, at St. George Church, 5306 13th Ave S., Seattle. Interment at 2:00 p.m., at Gethsemane Catholic Cemetery, 37600 Pacific Hwy S., Federal Way. In lieu of flowers, make donations to the First Hill Lions Club and Northwest Kidney Center.
