Thomas Lee Wood

Thomas Lee Wood passed away peacefully on December 16, 2017 at Evergreen Hospice, Kirkland, WA. He was 91. Tom was born on December 10, 1926 in Long Beach California to Frederick R. Wood and Virginia Thatcher. Raised in Victoria B.C. and a graduate of Ballard H.S., Seattle, WA. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy during WWII from 1944-46 & re-enlisted in the Naval Reserve 1946-1950. He received the World War II Victory Medal and the American Campaign Medal during his first enlistment.

Tom's lifelong love of Barbershop singing led him to his wife Patricia Jean Murphy of Vancouver B.C. They were married on June 17, 1967. They lived for a short time in Seattle before moving to their Alderwood Manor home of 45 years. Tom sang nearly 70 years in Quartets and Choruses in the Pacific N.W. including the Windjammers and Chord-splitters.

A true gentleman, Tom was the Chief Engineer of the Seattle Space Needle in the 60's and early 70's. A competent builder, He built the family home, beach cabin and did many remodel jobs for clients, family, and friends.

He loved the outdoors, fishing and camping with his loved ones and quartet members around Washington State and Canada as well as traveling to the British Isles.

Tom was a progressive self-made man & world citizen. He was a loyal, kind and devoted Son, Husband, Father, and Grandfather, Uncle and in-law.

Tom is survived by his wife, Patricia J. Wood "Murphy"; son, Alexander K. Wood, Brian, Barry (Ann), Bruce and Brent (deceased) Wood. Grandchildren, Ryan (Melissa), Rory, Nick, Kyle Wood & Deverie Stephens (Wood), Taylor Wood
(Stacey), and 5 Great-Grandchildren the last one being Oliver Thomas Wood, born just 26 days before Tom passed away.

Graveside Service will be held Wednesday, December 27th at 2 PM at Holyrood Catholic Cemetery
