Teresa Mary "Tess" HAIGH

Passed away on June 29, 2017 at the Mother Joseph Care Center in Olympia, WA at the age of 85. Born at home in Seattle on June 10, 1932, Tess was the third child of sixteen children in the Leo and Ethel Haigh family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Leo and Ethel, and ten of her eleven brothers.

Tess lived most of her life in Seattle, graduating from Immaculate Conception High School in 1950. She worked for the City of Seattle Water Department until 1967 when she left to finish her education. She graduated from Seattle University in 1969. Tess went on to work for King County Assessor's Office and retired after a long and successful career in 1997.

Faith, Family and Friends describe perfectly Tess's priorities in life. A lifelong Catholic, she lived a stellar example of serving others with humility and love. Tess spent countless hours as a volunteer at Jubilee Women's Center in Seattle and was a Eucharistic Visitor to the sick and homebound for many years in Seattle and Olympia. She served meals at The Community Kitchen in Olympia. Never married, Tess was a touchstone for the entire family. Her parents, Leo and Ethel were able to age in place at their home in Seattle thanks to Tess's generous spirit. Her siblings and her many nieces and nephews can attest to her kindness as well. Always willing to lend a hand when needed, she also was the chief orchestrator of countless family celebrations. Friends from work and her faith and charity communities knew she could be counted on to support whatever need they expressed.

Tess was an Associate member of the Sisters of Saint Joseph of Peace. The sisters who reside at Saint Mary on the Lake know well of her generosity of time, treasure and talent. Time spent at Saint Mary's and the Peace and Spirituality Center was a source of much joy for Tess.
