Sister Noreen Linane, C.S.J.P. Obituary (1923

Sister Noreen Linane CSJP (Sister Euphemia) died January 9, 2013 in Bellevue, WA. She was born on August 15, 1923 in Ballydonohue , Co. Kerry, Ireland. She was the fourth of five children, the daughter of Maurice and Catherine Linane. Noreen joined the postulancy of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Peace in Cabra, Newry, Northern Ireland. Because these were the war years of World War II, she started her novitiate in Nottingham and Rearsby, England. After the war she and the other Cabra Sisters travelled by ship to New Jersey. Young Sister Noreen then travelled by train to Washington State. After finishing her novitiate in Bellingham in 1945, she earned an R.N. at St. Joseph Hospital, Bellingham, Washington. Noreen served as a surgical nurse and supervisor in PeaceHealth hospitals of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Peace in Bellingham, Longview and Wenatchee, Washington, in Eugene, Oregon, and as administrator of hospitals in Rossland, British Columbia and Wenatchee. Her nursing skills formed an excellent background for her later work in pastoral care in Bellingham, Longview and at the Josephinum Senior Residence in Seattle. During an active retirement, Sister Noreen ministered as Office Manager at Jubilee Women's Center, Seattle. In recent years she lived at St. Mary-on-the-Lake, Bellevue, where her artistry with furniture restoration, fabric design and flower arrangement was greatly appreciated and admired. At her Sixty Year Jubilee in 2005, Noreen said, "Sixty years ago I was called to leave my family in Ireland and go to serve others. God has given me many blessings. I have received more than I have given." Her sister, Sister Elizabeth Linnane, CSJP as well as nephews and nieces in Ireland and Chicago, survives Noreen.
