Sheila Ann Keener

–

Kenmore, WA

Sheila lived a full and passionate life with a focus on service to others, always providing joy at every possible moment. She was a daughter, a wife, a mother and a nurse who fostered care for every person she touched, no matter the need. She loved her family and made sure that they knew, through example, that the greatest way to live was by providing help to others and always being grateful with your words and actions. She instilled upon her children a commitment to family which included creating memories and traditions that would be continued to be handed down throughout the generations to come.

Seattle would always be home to her and she was extremely proud to have deep roots on Queen Anne hill. She was always ready to go grab a cup of coffee no matter the day or time. Yes, she loved coffee, but she mostly was just a chit chat junkie. She understood the value of building relationships within community and fostering the growth of others. She was a devout Catholic and had a passion for the Holy Trinity, but lived her life for the community and parishioners that were brought together by God. She not only watched over the priests and nuns, but also over her parish and community.

She was not be defined by her breast cancer or Parkinson's, instead she wanted to be remembered for her dedication to the service of others. Her commitment to the caring of people was exemplified by her chosen profession of nursing. She encouraged everyone she touched to live a life of service and to take care of those around them. She understood that it was nurses who healed the sick and dying. Nurses nurtured and cared for the body, heart, and souls of their patients. They provided support to the families and translated the care that the physicians were giving into humanness. That is her legacy....that a life of service will ultimately bring great and lasting happiness.

Sheila is survived by Steve, her loving husband of almost 50 years; her children, Tom (Chadwick), Joby Welch (Wade), and Timmy (Megan); 3 grandchildren, Ian, Lauren and Rosie; and her brother Mike Nault (Marilyn) and his family.
