Sharlene ("Sherry") Cooper TOWEY entered into heaven, family by her side, on April 15, 2017 after a short, yet courageous battle with cancer. She was 56.
Sherry graduated from Decatur High School in 1978 and joined Northwest Airlines shortly after graduating. She flew the friendly-skies for 25 years and earned her degree in landscape architecture, with honors, from the University of Washington, before hanging up her wings. Her quick wit, gentle humor and deep love made her an incredible role model, wife, friend and mother. Her husband, children, family and friends knew that she took no greater joy than providing unwavering support through the challenges and successes of a life well-lived. Sherry spent countless hours in the stands and on the sidelines cheering on her children and she loved celebrating holidays, especially decorating and dressing up for Halloween. The spring and summer months would find her planting and sowing crops in her urban backyard garden, with her faithful companions Sport and Girl by her side.
She is survived by her adoring husband, Curt; children, Calvin, Kyle and Claire; mother Gail and step-father Dave; brothers Dave and Todd; sister, June; and many extended family members. She will also be dearly missed by her two dogs, Girl and Walter. She was preceded in death by her father, Richard.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to all of the doctors, nurses and staff at Overlake Hospital, Seattle Cancer Care Alliance, and the University of Washington Hospital for their care and compassion. Sherry leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, empathy and a generosity of spirit that knows no bounds.
Funeral Mass will be held Thursday, June 1st at 11 AM at
Holy Family Catholic Church,
7045 120th Ave NE, Kirkland
