Sean Patrick MacRae MURPHY (2/24/1982 - 10/16/2014) After a long illness, Sean Patrick MacRae Murphy, age 32, passed away in his Jersey City, NJ, home Thursday, Oct. 16, 2014. Beloved husband of Kristen Brewer, loving son of George and Eileen Murphy, proud brother of Michael Liam MacRae Murphy (Sarah Victor), and devoted nephew of Sr. Mary Ann MacRae, MMM. Graduate of St. Catherine's '96; Seattle Prep '00; Univ. of Washington Magna Cum Laude, Phi Beta Kappa, with College Honors in International Studies and Comparative History of Ideas'03; Columbia University School of Law Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar, Juris Doctor '06. Admitted to the New York and New Jersey Bars, practiced corporate law with Simpson Thacher in New York City. Remembered by friends, mentors, and teachers as fun, witty, congenial, respected by all, good friend to many, honest, and wise, Sean had a formidable intelligence with a rock solid set of personal values and a generous and magnanimous spirit. A dual citizen of the United States and Ireland, he studied peace and conflict resolution in situ in Northern Ireland, South Africa, and Cyprus, writing a senior thesis, "The Strange Bedfellows of Justice Politics in South Africa," that was awarded "Highest Honors" by the Jackson School of International Studies. A Jameson Distillery certified "Qualified Irish Whiskey Taster" and President of the Columbia Law School Wine Club, Sean developed an international palate to complement his passion for travel, ultimately setting foot on all seven continents including a surprise trip to Antarctica arranged by his wife, Kris. Together they shared many an adventure: planes, trains, cruise ships, learning to tango in the Argentinean wine country and cheering for the Yomiuri Giants in Tokyo!
