Rosemary A. MURPHY Rosemary Murphy, 89, passed away at the Life Care Center of Kirkland on July 3, 2014, where she had been receiving compassionate care. Born April 14, 1925 to J. Edgar Green and Rose Margaret (Daly) Green, she was the youngest--and last surviving--of their seven children. She grew up in the Blessed Sacrament parish of Seattle, and was a graduate of the Holy Names Academy class of 1943. In her youth, she worked as an usherette at the Neptune Theatre, which gave her an opportunity to watch Casablanca about 57 times. In November 1945, she married John A. Murphy, an ensign in the United States Navy. They soon moved to the north end of Seattle, eventually settling in a home on 45th Ave NE across from Sand Point golf course. Rosemary and John raised five children there--and fostered a disoriented peahen, known to lay eggs next to golf balls. For many years, Rosemary tirelessly welcomed and entertained members of the "parish bridge group," neighbors, friends of her kids, and a freeloading niece. Later in life, Rosemary dedicated herself to community service by supporting Seattle Senior Rights Assistance. Her marriage of sixty years lasted until John passed in 2006. She was preceded in death by sons Lee Andrew and Timothy John. She is survived by daughter Maureen Kirk (Larry Kirk); son Terrence (Rosalie D'Amico); son Kevin (Karen Freeman); and grandsons Brian Kirk and Frederick Murphy (son of Timothy and Lynda Bunting). Her caring nature and unconditional love will be dearly missed by all friends and family members who were blessed to have known her. The family plans to hold a small private burial and have a larger gathering of remembrance at a later date.
