Rick Cavanaugh

Born 1/20/1955, life-long Seattle resident and well-known Pike Place Market figure, passed away on 1/26/2018. Rick was hooked on the fish industry and the energy of the Pike Place Market since high school when he landed a part-time job there as a fishmonger. After a long career in the wholesale fish industry, Rick decided to pursue his dream of running a retail fish market at Pike Place. Unfortunately, his dream was short lived due to a stroke. Rick, however, worked diligently to rehab and wouldn't let his circumstances confine him. On a sunny day, he could often be spotted cruising the city in his motorized wheelchair or at his beloved Pike Place Market, where he recently landed another job.

Preceded in death by his parents, Millie & Bob Cavanaugh, Rick is survived by daughters Lauren and Haley; siblings Vicki, Pat, Mike, Terry, and Cathy; and numerous nephews and nieces. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Rick's honor to the Pike Place Market Foundation.
