In Loving Memory
Randy Wans
September 23, 1959- March 20, 2016

Randy Wans, age, passed peacefully during the early morning hours, at 2:41 a.m., on March 20th, 2016, surrounded by his wife and many loved ones, at Capital Medical Center in Olympia, Washington succumbed by the complications of Stage IV bone cancer, despite his full remission of tongue cancer a couple of years ago. Even in Randy's last days, he fought hard and withstood his illness knowing a benefit, sponsored by Eagles Arie #1, was being held in his honor on the evening of March 19th.

A native to Seattle, Washington, Randy was born on September 23, 1954 to his supporting parents, survived by mother, Patricia "Pat" (maiden name) Wans, of city, Washington and preceded father, Al Wans, also of city, Washington. He is survived by four sibling brothers Gary Wans, Brian Wans and twins Kenneth and Kevin Wans.

Randy, a family man by nature, is survived by his loving and devoted spouse of over 30 years, Dana Hillgartner Wans, originally from Pittsburgh, PA, to whom he met one summer while both were seasonal employees at Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming. He is survived by their oldest daughter, Kayla Wans, born in Billings, Montana, age 30, of city, Washington (first grandson Tristen, age 5). Soon thereafter, he relocated his family back to his hometown of Seattle. Also, survived by, is daughter, Kelsey "Kels" Wans, age 26 (fiancee Stephen "StepLo" Beats), (grandson Oliver, age 2), of Grapeview, Washington; and daughter Karissa Wans, age 23, of Seattle, Washington.

A true inspiration of the Seattle Drill Team for over a decade, along with his two adoring daughters' Kelsey and Karissa, drill team members, and the rest of the Wans family when in tow, Randy's noble and now legendary reputation of being one of the most kind hearted; loving; always willing to help others; adventurous at times; a/k/a "dad" to some of the other kids, including Katelyn Dobyns, and "family" to others; always happy; dependable; and dedicated made a profound impact on many lives in his inner circle or, simply others who knew of his mentoring character.

If you would ask Randy's daughter, Kelsey, to describe her father in one word, it would be "Superman." It was not uncommon to hear his grown daughters still call him "daddy" from time to time.

Randy enjoyed his time with family and friends whether it was a day at the beach house, boating or skiing, watching his favorite Washington sport teams or Nascar racing, drill team outings, tossing a ball or taking a walk down the beach with his grandsons' Tristen or Oliver, a quick nap on his wife's shoulder, or attending an Eagles meeting performing his Chaplin duties. At times during his illness, his wife, Dana, would accompany Randy, so he could still fulfil his obligations.

Proud 1982 graduate of the University of Washington earning his business degree in accounting, Randy was known to be a diligent employee and hard worker in his career choice. Notable, he was a man of great integrity and continued to work despite his recent life-threatening cancer diagnosis that claimed his body, not his gentle soul.
