Phyllis Jean Neighbors

Phyllis Jean (Walter) Neighbors, age 85, passed away August 25, 2008 in Seattle, WA. Phyllis was born in Spokane, WA on July 25, 1923. She graduated from West Valley HS a" Spokane in 1941. She lettered in many sports and during WWII packed parachutes and learned to fly. She earned her instructors license and taught new Army Air Corps recruits how to fly. She married Capt. William Neighbors and moved many times while Bill was in the Air Force. They had three children a" Sandy, Randy and Cherie. They settled in Roseburg, OR. After their divorce Phyllis moved to Corvallis, OR and went to work for the Singer Company. She was later transferred to Longview, WA where she managed the Singer Store. After retirement she volunteered at the hospital & craft stores. Quilting, crocheting and knitting were her favorite hobbies. Phyllis is survived by her children Sandy (Rocky) Monaco, Randy and son-in-law Tim (Lynn) Christomos; her grandchildren Joseph (Eleanor) Farland, Reid & Brandon Christomos and John Neighbors; and, great granddaughter Lucy Farland. She was preceded in death by her daughter Cherie Christomos. She was loved and will be missed by all. Services will be held Saturday September 6, 2008 at 11:00 AM at Howden-Kennedy Funeral Home, 3909 SW Alaska St. Seattle, WA 98116.
