Patricia Tolan Henwood

–

Seattle, WA

Pat was a fun, friendly and fabulous redhead until the end. She lost her valiant fight against Covid pneumonia despite precautions and the efforts of Virginia Mason Critical Care. She took her last breath holding hands with her husband of 63 years.

Born to Dr. John F. Tolan and Margaret Howes Tolan in 1939, Pat lived most of her life in Northeast Seattle. Her Catholic education started at Forest Ridge Convent of the Sacred Heart and continued at Lone Mountain College for Women (USF) where she graduated in 1960 with a major in English. It was there, at the Flower Ball in 1959, that she met David Henwood; they married August 27, 1960.

Pat's first career was as a more-than-fulltime mother. Daughters Kathleen and Colleen were born before the family moved back to Seattle in 1963. Mary Patricia was born in 1968. Pat continued her commitment to Catholic education and served with David as the first Co-President of the Assumption School Parents Club in 1977.

In 1979, Pat's enthusiasm for gardening and shopping inspired her and her sister, Kathie Kunath, to start a container gardening business, Pockets Full o'Posies. Later, she worked on Marianne Roulet's Agape Advocates team. Pat was always an enthusiastic shopper and found bargains at Fredrick & Nelson's month-end sales, The Bon Marche, Nordstrom and QVC.

Pat was a consummate conversationalist. She befriended fellow shoppers at Albertsons, entertained both long-time and new friends and, like a town crier, added to the daily update as each family member came home.

Pat is especially loved and will be missed by her husband David; daughters Kathy (Bob Scheu), Colleen and Mary Pat (deceased); sister Kathie Kunath; niece Elizabeth Robertson (Wyndham), nephew Christopher Kunath (Jeanna) and great-nephews Tolan, Magoo and Henry Robertson and Will and Josh Kunath.

The family invites you to join them to celebrate Pat with a Funeral Mass on Saturday, February 10th at 11am at

St. Bridget Catholic Church

4900 NE 50th St., Seattle.

In lieu of flowers, remember Pat through a donation to Assumption - St. Bridget School or a charity of your choice.
