Pat "Pasquale" Frank Coluccio Obituary (1929 - 2015)

Pat Frank Colluccio Our Dad, Pat Frank Coluccio, passed away peacefully on March 10, 2015. Born January 15, 1929, in Seattle, raised on Beacon Hill. Dad's actual name was Pasquale Franco. Dad graduated from Cleveland High School in 1947. A few years later, Dad was drafted, and proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1951 -53. Stationed in Europe, Dad was able to see his grandmother and other family in Calabria, and to attend Mass celebrated by Pope Pius XII. Returning to Seattle after his honorable discharge, Dad soon experienced the two most important events in his life: meeting his future wife, Marcia Ellen Hordemann, and landing a job at a local company called Boeing. Married on October 6, 1956, Dad and Mom made their first home on Beacon Hill. In 1960, they moved to Kent, raising five kids on East Hill. Our family was one of the original members of the "Park Orchard Gang," many of whom remain close family friends to this day. A proud and devout Catholic, Dad was always very active in his parishes, including St. Stephen the Martyr, and was a longstanding member of the Knights of Columbus. A second generation Italian and extremely proud of his heritage, Dad was also an active, longtime member of the Sons of Italy. Affectionately known as "Big Pat," Dad was always a BIG part of our lives, and those of his grandkids. He was a soccer and softball coach, and when he was not coaching, was our biggest cheerleader. Dad enjoyed a long and successful career at Boeing, working on many significant projects, including the KC- 135, 727, SST, C5A, 747, and 757. In 1980, Dad was recognized as Boeing Engineer of the Year for his work on the 757 Project. Retiring with 45 years of continuous service, he did not stray too far from the 757 factory in Renton. There for over eight years, Dad served as Crew Chief in the restoration of the Museum of Flight's B-17F "Boeing Bee." He and many volunteers literally rebuilt the plane, which eventually made its inaugural restoration flight in 1998. Pat was a Son, Husband, Dad, Grandpa, Brother, Uncle, and dear Friend to many. Family was the most important thing in Dad's life, with friendships a very close second. By words and example, he taught us the importance of serving others; to always do your best in everything you do; and to always set your goals high, because as Dad showed us, you can achieve anything in life through hard work and perseverance. Preceded in death by his parents Joe and Mary and sister Kathy. Survived by his familia, wife Marcia; children Bryan (Teresa), Kevin (Margie), Greg (Sue), Julie, and Jennifer; grandkids Megan, Katie (Charlie), Anthony, Sarah, Elliott, Gabe, Gus, Charlie, and Jazmyn; sister Rose, brother Joe, sister in law Anna Marie, brother in law John Millarich; nieces and nephews; and countless friends. Our deepest gratitude to Lily, Julie, Dave, Rose, Charles, and the incredible staff at the Terraces at Skyline; Julia and other nursing staff from Kline Galland; and Providence Hospice for the care and empathy provided to Dad and our family.
