Norman Fredrick Constan, Jr. Obituary (1936 - 2021)

On July 19, 2021, Norman Fredrick Constan, Jr. passed away peacefully at The Hearthstone, in Seattle, WA. He was 85. Norm, the youngest of three siblings, was born in Grafton, ND on February 17, 1936, to Norman and Frances Constan. When he was 9 years old, his family moved to a dairy farm in Aitkin, MN. Norm eventually moved to the Seattle area to pursue a job at Boeing, where he worked for 39 years until his retirement. He met the love of his life, Conchita, while visiting his mother in South Seattle. They were married in 1966 and just celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary on July 9. Norm was known to everyone as a kind and generous person, always giving of his time and assistance with whatever anyone needed. He volunteered countless hours of his time at his church and the Museum of Flight. He was a skilled handyman, always helping his sons-in-law and neighbors with all types of home improvements. He had an adventurous spirit and loved the outdoors. He was an avid runner and completed numerous fun runs, including two Seattle marathons and the Hood to Coast team relay. After he retired from Boeing, Norm began training to climb Mount Rainier, and during this time he summitted many local peaks including Mt. Baker and Mt. Adams. He summitted Mt. Rainier in 1997, one of his proudest moments. He loved to listen to music and to play the guitar and sing. Norm loved his wife and three daughters unconditionally; he took care of his family and took great pride in them. He will be greatly missed by his wife, Conchita; his daughters, Annette (Marc) Defigueiredo, Diane (Robb) Anderson, and Carolyn (Dan) Urrutia; his grandchildren Matthew, Miranda, Andrew, Lydia, Charlie, Carmela, and Walter; and his many cherished nieces and nephews. We will all treasure the many happy memories of Norm's generous and adventurous spirit, his witty conversation, and his corny jokes. His family would like to give special thanks to the staff at The Hearthstone and Providence Hospice for their loving and attentive care.
