Morris Rones was born in Seattle on October 23, 1953 to Sara Levy and Al Rones and raised by his mother and grandmother, Malcuna Levy. He passed away unexpectedly on July 1, 2023.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Anne McBride; his cherished daughter, Kelly Rones; his dear cousins, Jack Ginsberg, Ginny Hardman, Judy Kierstein, and Linda Steele.
As a young man, Morris worked at several Seattle area auto dealerships, lived on a kibbutz in Israel, worked at a Montessori school, was a substitute teacher for Seattle Public Schools and worked at Children's Hospital where he met his wife, Anne. He achieved academic success and earned his Master's Degree in Psychology from Seattle University. Afterward, he opened a counseling office and practiced as a personal life coach until his retirement.
Morris was a life-long learner and completed studies of eastern and ancient philosophies and cultures, including Buddhism, Chinese medicine, Christianity and Indigenous peoples. His deep spirituality led him to study the Kabbalah, attend the Washington Psychic Institute, and complete many courses at the Haven Institute in British Columbia. He was able to integrate these studies into his own concepts which he used with clients and shared with those around him.
Morris was uniquely curious about people. He had a truly extraordinary ability to connect with people, to engage and to accept each person without judgment. He would meet people where they were and accompany them into exploring their life patterns. He was lovingly challenging, a mentor to all who sought his guidance. He encouraged people to stay awake and present in their lives and to trust their own internal, intuitive gauges. He inspired people to succeed in their lives.
Both professionally and personally, he was a teacher, a coach and an ally. Many considered him a close and dear friend. He shared his humor generously and listened to others with an extraordinary ability to stay present in every interaction. His very being supported healing in others. He was a boundless, deeply loving and radiant spirit, generous with his insightful wisdom and quick-witted humor. He was a loving and supportive husband and an involved and proud father. His wisdom, ready laugh, warm eyes and welcoming spirit will be greatly missed.
In remembrance of Morris, please consider a donation to Crisis Connections or the charity of your choice.
His Celebration of Life is scheduled for September.
