Mizani Jioni James Mcdaniel, passed away peacefully on January 25, 2025, in her hometown of Seattle, Washington. Born on June 27, 1993, also in Seattle, Mizani's vibrant spirit and infectious smile were a gift to all who knew her throughout her 31 years of life.
Mizani was the cherished daughter of Femi James and the late John Mcdaniel Jr. She grew up surrounded by love and laughter. She will be dearly missed by her siblings Tashara, Donte, Jasia, and Tyjohn. As well as her grandparents, aunties, uncles, cousins, many friends, and colleagues.
After attending Johnson C Smith University in Charlotte, North Carolina, Mizani returned to Seattle to contribute to the education system, serving as an Executive Assistant in Human Resources for the Seattle Public School District. Her professionalism and warmth made her a beloved figure among her colleagues and the many lives she touched in her role.
Mizani's passion for service began at an early age where she was active as a leader in youth ministry at Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Her passion continued to flourish throughout her high school years as a cheer coach and mentor, extending beyond her professional life into her active membership of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority. There, she exemplified the ideals of service, sisterhood, and finer womanhood, consistently striving to make a positive impact on the world around her.
An avid traveler, Mizani found joy in exploring new places, whether it was a road trip, cruise or an adventure abroad. Each journey was an opportunity to create unforgettable memories with her friends and family, who were her constant travel companions.
Beyond her love of travel, Mizani was a fan of the Marvel Universe, Harry Potter, and Disney.
Mizani approached every day with a sense of purpose and a belief in the goodness of people. Her legacy is one of love, laughter, and the countless lives she enriched with her presence.
Though her time with us was far too short, the impact of Mizani's life will be felt forever. She leaves behind a family that adores her, friends who admire her, and a community that is better for having known her.
As we say farewell to our beloved Mizani we take comfort in knowing that her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to have been touched by her grace and generosity.
Mizani's family wishes to express their profound gratitude for the outpouring of love and support during this difficult time. They will treasure the stories, laughter, and moments shared in celebration of Mizani's extraordinary life.
