Margaret Haralson

–

Seattle, WA

Margaret “Marge” (Foccona) Haralson was born to Teresa (D’Ambrosio) Foccona and Guiseppe Foccona on August 1, 1933, in Seattle, Washington. She passed into eternal rest on October 5, 2026, where she met her husband, Ron Haralson, who waited 11 years to see her again. Marge’s final moments were spent the same way she lived for decades - surrounded by her children and grandchildren.

Marge was born and raised in Seattle, Washington, but remained deeply connected to her Italian roots. After marrying Ron in November 1955, the two settled on Beacon Hill to be near both of their families and begin raising a family of their own. Her children grew up enjoying Sunday dinners with Marge's parents -- homemade pasta and meatballs, and sauce made fresh with ingredients from her father’s garden. Marge inherited his green thumb and maintained her own garden through the end of her life.

Life on Hudson Street was idyllic. Marge raised her children alongside beloved neighbors who became lifelong friends, all in the same season of life. Many of her fondest memories involved her dear friends of the monthly Sewing Club. As Marge's children grew older, she returned to work, eventually retiring from SeaFirst Bank, where she worked for 10 years. In later years, Marge became the honorary matriarch of Hudson Street, with kind neighbors who looked in on her and always listened to her stories!

Marge balanced her professional career with a full schedule of volunteer work alongside Ron. Together, they served in many roles at St. George Catholic Church, Search retreats, Marriage Encounter, and marriage prep for couples in their parish. In their retirement, the two spent many hours volunteering with St. Vincent de Paul, and Marge continued this legacy of volunteering after Ron’s passing. They also enjoyed their travels together, taking trips to Italy and Spain.

The downtown chapel ministry was a passion of Marge's that began while she was working and continued well after her retirement. For nearly 30 years Marge helped to make daily noon Mass for those working nearby possible. During those years, Marge would ask almost every priest she met, in her own enthusiastic way, if they would be willing to help out now and then by coming to the chapel to celebrate the Eucharist with a grateful group of daily Mass attendees. Marge made lasting friendships through this ministry. She kept the calendar of celebrants, and along with other volunteers and the offerings from those in attendance, made the downtown chapel self-sustaining. The chapel was housed within the Plymouth Congregational Church on 6th Avenue, providing not only a convenient and sacred space, but also fostering an ecumenical relationship that she cherished.

Marge’s life was centered around faith, family, and friends. Her commitment to the Catholic faith was evident in her dedication to serving others. To those who had the pleasure of knowing Marge, you could always count on a birthday card in the mail, a feast day honored, a call when companionship was needed, or a care package that arrived when you needed it the most. She never missed an opportunity to be present in the lives of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and her absence will be felt tremendously.

Marge is survived by her children Debbie Champigny, Laurie (Laurel) Cuaresma and Stan (Candace) Haralson. She is also survived by her 8 grandchildren: Matthew (Amanda) Cuaresma, Cecilia (Dmitri) Rideout, Stephanie (Max) Frisch, Jason (Tia) Champigny, Zachary (Lauren Kilisky) Cuaresma, Monica (Jared) Mercer, Andrew Champigny and Thomas Haralson. Marge was blessed with 14 great grandchildren.
