Lishey Crews Obituary (1927

Lishey was born February 17, 1927 in Franklinton, Louisiana to Elmo and Lillie Smith. She was one of nine children and was preceded in death by six brothers, Elmo Smith, Harvel Smith, Joseph Smith, Homer Smith, Talmage Smith and Earl Smith. She married Lamfus Harvey in Franklinton, Louisiana, the family then moved to Seattle, Washington in 1959 and they were together until 1963. This reunion was blessed with four sons Lamfus Harvey, Jr., Jerry Harvey, Ervin Harvey, and Darrel Harvey. Darrell preceded her in death in 1999. She married John Crews in 1979 he preceded her in death in 1985. She worked for the Boeing Company for thirty-two years and retired in 1992. She accepted Christ at an early age and united with Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Seattle, Washington in 1969. Lishey loved the Lord and was an active member the church. She served the Lord and the church in many capacities, including a long and devoted member of the Women's Ministries and Zone 5. She was also actively involved with the NAACP and the Seattle Urban league, extending her talents to various activities and endeavors. Left to cherish her memory is her devoted sister Elizabeth Harvey and husband Willie of Cleveland, OH, her brother Nathan Smith and wife Louise of Baton Rouge, LA. Her sons; Lamfus Jr, Jerry, and Brad, four grandchildren and seven great grandchildren, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Visitation 4-8 PM Wednesday, May 20, at Columbia Funeral Home. Funeral service 11:00 AM, with a brief viewing 10-10:30 AM, Thursday, May 21, 2009, at Mt. Zion BaptistChurch, 1634 19th Ave., Seattle.
