Lotti (Potsch) Nokes Obituary (1944

Lotti Nokes was a wife, mother, grandmother, tante/aunt, sister and friend to many. She passed away suddenly on January 1, 2021 in Mesa, Arizona, at the age of 76. Born Lieselotte Potsch on March 7, 1944, to Eduard and Anna in Czechoslovakia, she was one of 13 children. After WWII, her family was forced to flee their home when she was just two, and they moved west, to a 2-bedroom apartment in Germany, eventually settling in Bensheim. After finishing school, Lotti met her husband George, who was a US Army serviceman stationed in Germany, and they were married in 1963. Shortly after their wedding, Lotti moved to West Seattle with her husband, where they raised their two sons, David and Daniel. They lived there for 43 years before retiring and moving to Arizona in 2006. Lotti was a hard worker and she was a phenomenal cook, best known for her German food...Especially her German potato salad. Lotti loved watching her son's activities and she enjoyed traveling with her husband around the US and world, but she also played hard herself. Lotti participated in an adult volleyball league, she was an avid bowler, and played pinochle with the same group of ladies for years. After retiring to Mesa, Arizona in 2006, Lotti stayed active by taking up both golf and co-ed softball. Lotti was Catholic, and attended church as a member of Holy Rosary, in West Seattle and Holy Cross Church in Mesa. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, George Nokes (2017), and is survived by her sons David(Angie), Daniel(Johlene), five grandchildren; Samantha, David Jr., Isaac, Jack and Mark Nokes; her sister in Germany, Waltraud Gebhardi "Traudy" and many nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends. Due to the COVID regulations, funeral services will be private, but the family plans a Celebration of Life, to be held at a later date.
