Laurence Lareau Mahoney Obituary (1918

Larry passed away peacefully on October 17, 2013, surrounded by his family. He lived life to the fullest as a devoted husband, loving dad and remarkable grandpa. Larry was born May 6, 1927 in Buffalo, NY to Agnes and Neil Mahoney. He had many fond memories of his summers as a youth at Honey Harbor with his 6 siblings before they moved to Seattle. After finishing high school at Seattle Prep, he served in the army for two years before graduating from Seattle University in Civil Engineering. He worked for Boeing for most of his career. It was at a Chancellor Club party that Larry met the love of his life, Anna Mae Jackson. He said he thought he was in heaven on their wedding day. They married October 16, 1954 and moved to Wedgewood becoming active members of Our Lady of the Lake Parish and raising their 6 children. He was always there for us, teaching us and supporting us. His infinite patience with very young kids and with his grandkids was amazing: showing us how to play chess, tennis and golf. You could find him on the sidelines in the earlier years coaching and later cheering his kids and grandkids on, or you'd find him enjoying one of the sports himself. He loved the great outdoors! Dad's strong faith was exemplified through his kindness, honesty and compassion for the sick and less fortunate. His generosity and charitable spirit continued into his later years as he volunteered at the Francis House. Larry was a proud member of the Knights of Columbus and was a former Grand Knight. He also enjoyed singing with the 89th Street Deacons and loved to have a good time. Dad's friendly personality and ready smile will be fondly remembered. A life lived with so much love never really ends, but goes on forever in the hearts of those who remember. He left us a beautiful legacy, and the world is a better place because of him.
