Lavinia C. Greene Obituary (1918

Lavinia Callaway "Wink" GREENE 93, died on November 15, 2011 after an extended illness. Wink was born June 19, 1918 in Dennis Township, New Jersey. At the age of 19 she received her Early Childhood Education degree from Glassboro State Teachers College. Wink moved to the (Panama) Canal Zone in 1946 and began her career with the U.S. Government - with Customs and with the Department of Defense - shortly thereafter. She married Herb Greene in 1955 and he predeceased her in 1986. After his death, Wink moved to Seattle to be closer to two of her three children. She is survived by her children Allen Sheppard (Nilsa) of La Chorerra, Republic of Panama; Tom Sheppard (Jean), Mount Vernon, WA and Barbara Greene Litchford (John) of Seattle; her brothers Tom Callaway (Jean), of Virginia Beach, VA and Bob Callaway of South Carolina; her sister in law Neisy Callaway of David, Republic of Panama. Also surviving are six grandchildren - Lavinia Sheppard-Moran (Jeff), Benjamin Sheppard, Thomas Sheppard, Kendra Bercaw (Richard), Sean Litchford (Amanda) and Ian Litchford - several great-grandchildren, a great-great grandchild, nieces and nephews. There are no plans for funeral or memorial services. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you make a donation, to your favorite charity, in Wink's memory.
