Jane LeCuyer

Elizabeth Jane Fiedler LeCuyer (Jane) passed away September 2, 2018 at age 95 in Seattle, Washington, after a long and very full life. She was born October 9, 1922 to Gene and Jean Grant Fiedler in Kansas City, Missouri. Her father worked in the auto industry, joining Chevrolet Motor Company when Jane was a child. Traveling with her parents for her fathers' work, Jane lived in many places and made many friends during her childhood and adolescence. These places included Denver, Colorado; Great Falls, Montana; Salt Lake City, Utah; Oakland, California; as well as Seattle, Washington.

At the beginning of WWII she met Charles Frederick LeCuyer, and they were married in 1942 in Fort Sill, Oklahoma. After the war ended, the young couple returned to Seattle, Washington, where Jane lived for most of the remainder of her life. In her younger years, Jane enjoyed socializing through playing golf, bowling, and bridge, and working with the Seattle Milk fund, Diakonia, and other charities. After her two children were grown, she returned to college and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Composition at the University of Washington. After her first marriage ended, she met and eventually married her true love, John Walker DeNure. An excellent cook, Jane always had a flair for food, and took great pride in cooking simple but tasteful and healthy meals for her friends and family. Using her cooking and writing skills, she once wrote and published a cookbook with her daughter as illustrator. It was not a big seller, but many friends had copies on their bookshelves! John was a Master Gardener, so her recipes often included fresh vegetables from their garden.

She also took great pride in her home surroundings, and her homes were always beautiful, peaceful, comfortable and welcoming. Jane is survived by her son, Christopher (Maria), her beloved grandchildren Cristina, Sofia, Charles, and Tristan, all of Seattle, and her daughter Elizabeth LeCuyer (Gary Custozzo) of Sunriver, Oregon. She is preceded in death by her husband, John Walker DeNure, and her first husband, Charles F. LeCuyer.
