James T. Rice Obituary (1915

Age 91, peacefully went to be with the Lord on January 15, 2007. Born September 23, 1915 in Seattle, Washington to James T. (Sr.) and Jane Louella Rice. Graduated from Broadway High School and University of Washington. Career Seattle Water Department official, retiring in 1977 as Assistant Superintendent. Long time former member, Elder, and Treasurer of First Presbyterian Church of Seattle. Former board member of Union Gospel Mission and The Kenney Presbyterian Retirement Community. Jim's hobby interests included rail, mass transit, and local maritime history. He was an authority on the history of the B. C. Coast Steamship Service of the Canadian Pacific Railway. Member of Puget Sound Maritime Historical Society and Northwest Railfan Group. Survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Adele R., sister Jane O. Ward of Poulsbo, daughter Patricia M. Loveland (Walter D.) of Corvallis, OR, son James G. Rice (Mary Ann) of Shoreline, daughter Janet A. Parkins (Terry L.) of Waynesboro, VA, son David E. Rice (Janie) of Houston, TX, eight grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and three nephews. Memorials to Union Gospel Mission, The Kenney, or West Side Presbyterian Church. Memorial service Saturday, February 10, 2007 at 10:30am in The Kenney chapel.
