Herman "Hank" Edgar Bisom Obituary (1925 - 2022)

Herman, age 97, died peacefully at Evergreen Hospice in Kirkland, Washington. He was born in Rolla, North Dakota to Henry Earl and Leoise (LaFrance) Bisom. Hank was the middle child of 10 siblings and raised on the family farm. Herman entered the U.S. Navy in 1944. He was on guard duty at the Navy Pier in San Francisco on V-J Day in 1945. Hank was a Petty Officer3rd Class and served on the USS Breton in the Asiatic Pacific Fleet. After his Navy service in WWII, Hank attended Seattle University, majoring in Business Management. In 1949, he met the love of his life Elynore Crawford, a nurse, at a "Big Band Dance". They were married August 17,1950, at St. Anne's Catholic Church. Hank first went to Alaska in 1949 to work for Alaska Packers Assoc. at North Naknek as a bookkeeper. As he progressed in his management career in the seafood industry, Hank and Elynore relocated their young family to twelve locations including: Alaska, Oregon, California, Utah, Texas and Puerto Rico. Herman completed his career as V.P. of Global Seafood Operations for Castle & Cook / Dole Foods (Bumble Bee) in San Francisco. They returned to Seattle in 1982 where their journey had begun. Hank and Elynore loved dancing at Elks & Eagles Clubs. They enjoyed traveling to Hawaii and attended several Bisom family reunions In Missoula, MT. Spending time with extended family in Idaho, Montana and North Dakota was always a great joy for him. "Pops" was loved and cherished by his family. He will be deeply missed. Herman's wife Elynore passed away in 2006 after 55 years together. He is survived by his brother Bill (Barbara); son John; son David (Michelle);daughter Gayle (Rocco); and grandchildren; Heather, Robert, John, Maria and 3 great-grandchildren. A Funeral mass will be Tuesday, July 5th at 11:00 am at Christ the King Catholic Church 405 North 117th Street, Seattle, with reception to follow. Interment at Holyrood Catholic Cemetery, 205 NE 205th St, Shoreline, WA 98155.
