Helenmarie A. Clynch Obituary (1933

Born Helenmarie Breeze on July 22, 1933 in Seattle. Passed away November 30, 2011 in Seattle at her home surrounded by her family. She is survived by her children, Cece (Jim), Susan (Kevin), Molly (Chris), John (Michael) and Claudia (Kevin). She is also survived by her beautiful grandchildren, Jacqueline (Conor), Amanda, Katy, Alyssa and John Patrick. Hummy was a wonderful mother, grandmother, aunt, niece, cousin, daughter, wife, free spirit and great friend. When her children were growing, she was a Camp Fire leader, member of Assumption PTA, originator of the Bryant Assumption Recreation Field (BARF) and volunteer for the local food bank. As her children grew, she returned to work at the University of Washington School of Dentistry. Hummy attended Seattle University before marriage and, after her children were grown, completed her Bachelors degree at The Evergreen State College. She later worked as a manager for Stanley Kaplan and retired as the Registrar for Seattle Prep. In retirement, Hummy volunteered for Friends of Seattle Public Library. A life-long ice skater, Hummy continued to skate after retirement. She also put her athletic skills to use in ballet and tap dance classes. Retirement also gave her additional time to dote on her grandchildren. She loved Sun Valley, Long Beach and her cats. Hummy maintained long-term friendships with childhood friends, the "Dirty Dozen", the Seattle Skating Club, the 34th Street Gang and Assumption Parish. She continued to gather friends through her work, volunteer organizations, children and grandchildren. Hummy was preceded in death by her husband, John "Jack" Clynch (1974) and her parents Herman "Windy" and Helen "Mimi" Breeze. While our mom leaves us feeling great sorrow, we are so thankful for her strength, support and love throughout our lives. Our sympathy and thanks go out to her many friends and relatives who filled her life with great joy. Recitation of the Rosary will be Sunday, December 4th at 4:00 PM at Hoffner Fisher & Harvey Chapel 508 N 36th St., Seattle, WA 98103. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday, December 5th at 10:00 AM at Assumption Catholic Church, 6201 33rd Ave. NE, Seattle, WA 98115. Reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Food Lifeline, Friends of Seattle Public Library or Providence Hospice of Seattle.
