Harry R. Veldwyk Obituary (1921

Passed away October 16, 2008. Born in Seattle in 1921 to Harry and Minnie Veldwyk. Graduated Franklin High School. Career included UPS, Boeing, owned and operated two full-service gas stations on Capitol Hill and University Village areas, top salesman for Singer Sewing, Assistant Manager of Sales for Allstate Insurance, licensed Real Estate Agent and finally owner and operator of Town and Country Insurance Agency in Rainier Beach for many years. He was also a wartime member of the U.S. Coast Guard Reserve. He was a long time active member of United Commercial Travelers. He enjoyed visiting with friends in South Seattle and Renton, many great trips to Reno, TV westerns and could name virtually every TV celebrity of the 40's, 50's, 60's and on. He spent many good years with his family at their self-built summer home in Grayland, WA, fishing, clamming, forever working on the cabin, and prowling the beach for firewood. Harry suffered the early loss of his son Harry James "Jim" (wife Cheryl), 3 years ago. He is survived by his daughters Sally Tichenor (Stephen), Bonnie Ullom (Emory), Peggy Kelly (Jim) and his terrific grandchildren, Nathan, Justin, Julie, Sunil, Phillip, Nicole, Kristin, Rachael, Sabra and Clinton and great grandchildren, too! He also leaves his sister Jean. At his request no funeral services will be held. The family will gather soon in remembrance.
