Geraldine L. (Lucchesini) THIBODEAU Geraldine "Geri" Lucchesini Thibodeau peacefully passed away, after a long journey with Alzheimer's, on November 15th, 2014 surrounded by her family, she was 73. Geri was born into an Italian family on May 5th, 1941 in Cheyenne, Wyoming to Guido and Annie (Baldi) Lucchesini. They had two children, Geri, and her older sister Gladyne. Geri grew up mostly in West Seattle surrounded by her large and loving extended Italian family. She attended Holy Rosary West Seattle for both grade school and high school. From there, she attended Gonzaga University in Spokane where she majored in Education. She met her husband, and the love of her life, Joe Thibodeau, while she was an undergraduate and he was a law student. After graduating from Gonzaga in 1964, she felt fortunate to be able to spend a summer abroad in Europe. When she returned to Seattle, she taught 4th grade for one year at Vashon Elementary. Geri and Joe were married on August 14th, 1965. They started their married life in Spokane while Joe finished law school. From there, they spent a few years in Olympia, before moving to Edmonds in 1973 where they happily settled. While her children were young, Geri spent many joyful years creating a wonderfully nurturing and loving home for them with Joe. In 1988, she went back to teaching, and taught 4th grade at Holy Rosary School in Edmonds. She truly loved teaching, and retired in 2001 after 12 years. During retirement, she and Joe had many fun and memorable trips traveling both domestically and internationally. She was a wonderful cook and loved to laugh. Her passions were her family and many friends, her Catholic faith, volunteering, and cooking & entertaining. She is survived by Joe Thibodeau, her loving husband of 49 years; her four children, Marcia Metcalf (James), Beth Mitchell (Trevor), Michael Thibodeau (Annemarie) and Mark Thibodeau; her five grandchildren, Andrew, Matthew, Audrey, Joseph and Anthony; and her sister, Gladyne Douglas (Richard). She was predeceased by her parents, Guido and Annie Lucchesini. Geri will be remembered dearly as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, godmother, cousin, niece and friend; a truly remarkable woman who always put others first. She did indeed make this world a better place. The family would like to thank the caregivers at A Better Living for their compassionate care.
