Eunice R. Chornyak Obituary (1921

Eunice R. Chornyak was the fourth and final child born to Eva and Nathan Williamson on September 3, 1921. She was reunited with her husband, William, when she joined our Heavenly Father on Feb. 11, 2012. WWII brought two strangers together who would marry and then love each other for the rest of their lives. A handsome Pennsylvania soldier captured our mother's heart and before he shipped out to the South Pacific their twins, Carol and Bill, were born. After the war Dad returned to mom's side, in Ballard, and the family was completed with Larry's birth. A disciplined but patient and loving mother, Eunice raised her family and simultaneously began a banking career that ended when she retired from WaMu's Ballard branch. Dad, a sometime Catholic, asked Mom to take instructions and to convert. She agreed provided that he would go with her as he needed it more than she did. Father Joseph Doogan taught the class and also baptized her, heard her fist confession, gave her first communion and properly married Eunice and bill in the Catholic Church. Since that time in 1957 together they performed many good works in support of St. Alphonsus. Eunice helped for many years with funeral receptions, CCD classes and most recently with a group of grandmothers that read to kindergartners, 1st and 2nd graders at the parish school. Eunice is survived by her three children, Carol Sheffo, Bill, Larry (Sherry); four grandchildren, Christopher, Cameron (Julie), Brian (Andi) and Kirra (Stephen); three great-grandchildren, Austin, Mya and Sophie. Her Funeral Mass will be said on Thursday February 23rd, 10AM at St. Alphonsus Church, 5816 15th Avenue NW, Seattle, Washington, 98017.
