Ervin Richard "Bud" Anderson Obituary (1934

He started school in Binford, North Dakota, then entered Coleman Grade school in Seattle; on to Washington Jr. High, and graduated from Franklin High. He played Baritone horn the Franklin Marching Band. He had begun with Violin, but couldn't finger the notes after breaking his arm. The family rejoiced, as beginning violin was not our favorite. Buddy had a Seattle Times paper route and was a Boy Scout. He joined the Army and was sent to Barrow, Alaska with Alaska Communications known as ACS. He served in the Korean Conflict and Vietnam where he was wounded February 18, 1968 and received the Purple Heart. He was a decorated hero and was awarded the Bronze Star for leading a platoon to restore vital communications in a rocket mortar attack. He is a member of 595th Signal Corps, 36th Signal Battalion, 2nd Signal Group, retiring in 1975 with 22 1/2 years of service. While in Barrow, Alaska he met Lois Anatock. They married on June 6, 1953 at Hope Lutheran church in Seattle. Their children are Dale Robert, Mary Louise and Andrew Jonathan. Andrew married Janell Cain and they live in Denver, Colorado. Their children are Kristina, Kimberly, Melissa and Richard. Kimberly married Troy Stauffer on November 4, 2006 and they welcomed Lucas Lorenzo on October 27, 2007. Ervin died at the Seattle Veterans Hospital on December 17, 2007 and will be buried at Tahoma National Cemetery. Surviving relatives are; sons, Dale, Andrew (Janell) grandchildren, Kristina, Kimberly (Troy) Melissa and Richard, great-grandson; Lucas, sisters; June and Irene, niece Marilee and nephew David, Donald, Dean and Richard. Preceding him in death are wife; Lois, daughter Mary Louise, brother; Douglas, sister Delores, father Arthur, mother Emilia and a nephew Gregary. Funeral service 11 AM Friday, December 21, 2007, at Columbia Funeral Home, Seattle. Interment with full militar honors followed at Tahoma National Cemetery, Kent, WA.
