Edna Deichl

–

Seattle, Washington

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Edna Mae Deichl, who peacefully departed this life at the age of 100 on July 27, 2024. Edna was born on September 2,1923, in Dryden, Washington and grew up in Odessa, Washington.

She was the beloved wife of the late Captain Joseph A. Deichl, a pilot with Pan American Airlines for 36 years, who preceded her in death 13 years ago. During her marriage to Joseph, in the early days of flight, he would be flying for weeks at a time while Edna raised their 4 boys. She often attended 3 separate little league games in a single evening. Together, they built a life filled with love, loyalty, integrity, religion and dedication, raising their sons: Richard, married to Leslie, Robert married to Patricia, Bruce widowed to Elayne and Brian married to Gail.

Edna's legacy is further carried on by her cherished grandchildren: Carrie, Chris, Eric, Travis, Shane, Lucas, Alexander, Kyla, Leah, Steven and Jennifer. She also leaves seventeen great grandchildren.
In addition to raising her 4 boys, Edna did a lot of volunteer work. She was an active candy striper at Huntington Hospital, Long Island, Cub Scout den mother, a volunteer receptionist at Providence Hospital in Seattle for over 25 years and had the patience and love of a saint. She also volunteered for the baby airlift from Vietnam with her husband flying the B-707 to safety to the United States. One more note of importance is to brag about was her HOLE IN ONE at Broadmore Country Club in Seattle.

Edna's warmth, wisdom, and unwavering spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew her. A memorial lunch was held by her family to honor Edna's remarkable life and the impact she had on those around her. The family kindly requests that any donations be made to Kline Galland Hospice in Edna's memory.
