Nhu Duong Obituary (1973 - 2025)

Nhu Phu Thi Duong was born in Rach Gia, Kien Giang, Vietnam before immigrating with her family to the United States in June of 1987, at age 15. With determination and endless hard work, Nhu built a career as a hairdresser—a job that afforded her independence, an outlet for her sociability, and a place for her creativity to blossom. These traits, in combination with her nurturing personality, endeared her to family, friends, and clients far and wide. She never failed to ask people how they were doing and always listened with intention, ready to sympathize or to offer solutions. She loved her life and spent her time tending to her flowers, dancing the night away, and traveling to warm places. Nhu’s amazing cooking made her the beating heart of any family gathering and her warmth made every place she occupied feel like a home. At age 52, Nhu passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 26, 2025 in Washington. She is survived by her children: Liz, Lyra, Leslie, and Mathew, and her grandchildren: Leo, Amelia, and Ada. Her family will always strive to be as generous and loving as Nhu was and will miss her every day.
