SISTER DENISE WALSH, OP Sister Denise Walsh died on July 21, 2013, at St. Joseph Residence in Seattle. She was 89 years of age and in the 66th year of her religious profession as a Dominican sister. Sister Denise was born in Kimball, South Dakota, to James and Winifred (Walsh) Havlik. She graduated from Commerce High School in San Francisco and received a bachelor of education degree from Seattle University. Sister spent 23 years ministering in education in Seattle, Aberdeen, Bremerton, Granger and in Pittsburg, California. She was a chaplain for 17 years and ministered at St. Joseph Hospital and the U.S. Navy Hospital in California. She was a caregiver and coordinator at Perpetual Help Convent in Everett for 5 years. Sister became a resident of St. Joseph Residence in Seattle in 2011. Sister Denise was a prayerful and caring woman and is survived by her 5 sisters and many nieces and nephews. A Vigil Service will be held on Wednesday, July 24, 2013, at 7:00 pm and the Funeral Liturgy will be offered on Thursday, July 25, 2013, at 11:00am., BOTH at St. Joseph Residence in Seattle.
