Clifford "Kip" E. Chase Obituary (1947

Clifford E. "Kip" CHASE Died peacefully on February , 2014, in Seattle, Washington, after a long battle with liver disease. Cliff was born in Omaha, Nebraska on April 4, 1947 and grew up in Council Bluffs, Iowa. After graduating from Creighton University, he joined the Air Force and served 3 years in the Azores, where he worked as a disc jockey and a reporter. Kip obtained a master's degree in Journalism from the University of Nebraska. He worked for WOWT in Omaha as a reporter, cameraman and producer for several years and taught journalism at UNL and UNO. Cliff traveled in Europe, Asia, New Zealand and South America. He dreamed of sailing the world and began building a sailboat in his backyard. Cliff moved to Seattle to be with his long-time partner, Ann Lange. He worked for King County for two decades, as a streetcar conductor and a communications specialist. Cliff indulged his love for sailing with his two boats. He continued to travel, taking several trips to Hawaii and riding Amtrak throughout the country. Cliff was preceded in death by his parents Cliff and Lucia and several aunts, uncles and cousins. He is survived in Seattle by Ann Lange, Steven Lange and family and numerous friends from work and play. In Nebraska, Kip is survived by his sister Cathie Fife Redick and her husband Steve Redick, nieces Amy Turner, Melissa Haskins and Jennifer Stom, nephews Tim and Eric Fife, and many friends and cousins. His kindness, gentleness and good humor to all he knew will be greatly missed. Funeral will be held on February 26 at 10:00 am. at Assumption Catholic Church in Seattle, followed by luncheon and sharing memories. Interment will be at Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent, WA, at 2:00 pm.
