Christopher Allen Grimm

–

Seattle, WA

Born in Barstow, CA, on September 12, 1954, to Dr. Huber and Georgia Grimm. Chris had the distinction of being the only child in the family delivered by his father. Chris was the sixth son of ten children and spent his youth growing up on Capitol Hill in Seattle, attending St Joseph School and graduating from Seattle Preparatory School in 1973. Upon graduation, Chris entered Washington State University, majoring in Hotel and Restaurant Management. Chris was a proud Washington State Cougar and wore the Crimson and Gray wherever he went. Chris also attended the WSU Hotel and Restaurant Management extension program at Seattle University.

Out of college, Chris successfully managed for some very prominent and popular restaurants in Seattle, including the Schwartz Brothers chain. Chris owned and operated his very own restaurant in Everett for a few years, but managing restaurants was not his only success. Chris also managed for years the gift shop for Seattle's Underground Tours, a natural fit for Chris given his love for history.

After a number of years in the hospitality industry, Chris managed a painting company and other small businesses, worked as a vendor for Microsoft, and finally settled into real estate in the year 2000. It is in real estate that he met the love of his life, Wendy Fisher, and they were married in 2001. Chris waited a long time for the right woman, and he finally found her.

Chris was always unabashedly candid about his early battles with alcohol. He credited Alcoholics Anonymous and Wendy for saving his life, and quietly dedicated years to the program, helping and sponsoring many who encountered similar addiction issues. Chris was an advocate for the homeless, as well, volunteering thousands of hours to quality of life issues for them in Seattle. Chris had a true compassion for those in need. Additionally, Chris adopted his childhood parish, St Joseph Church on Capitol Hill, and served that community in its ministry.

Chris loved the water, and always dreamed of owning his own classic, wood boat. He was also the chief family historian, acting as curator for family photos and heirlooms, and preserving and managing the Galbraith Family legacy, one of the very early families in Seattle. Chris was very proud that he restored and wore his great-grandfather's spectacles. He loved fishing and boating, a fine cigar every once in a while, but mostly loved spending time with Wendy, family, friends and his devoted, four-legged pal, Ruby.

Chris is survived by his wife of 17 years, Wendy Fisher Grimm; 8 siblings, Suzy (Monte) Montegut, Tom (Gari) Grimm, Bob Grimm SJ, Larry (Barb) Grimm, Gerry (Betsy Ainsworth) Grimm, Paul Grimm, Scott (Karin) Grimm, and Pat (Nancy Hurlbut) Grimm; and sister-in-law, Dawn Winters. He is preceded in death by his 9th sibling, Peter Grimm, DO. He is also survived by numerous nephews, nieces, grand-nephews and grand-nieces who adored him.

Chris's favorite movie was "It's A Wonderful Life", loved its message of hope, and always greeted and said good-bye to his brothers with a hearty "HEE HAW!" We sadly say goodbye to you, Chris, with our heartfelt and uplifting "HEE HAW!" to you.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, May 12, at 12:00 Noon St. Joseph Catholic Church 732 18th Avenue East, Seattle

Remembrances may be made to Recovery Cafe, 2022 Boren Avenue, Seattle, WA 98121.
