In the words of Dr. Seuss, "Don't cry because it's over. Smile because it happened." And oh, how we smiled with Bryan Asuncion. Born on the sunny shores of Honolulu, Hawaii on September 26th, 1985, Bryan lived life on a vibrantly high beat. He brought the aloha spirit with him from the islands to the mainland, lighting up Washington, with his generous nature and loving attitude throughout the years.
Bryan was a man of many talents; From his acting in the high school drama clubs, to his active involvement in hip-hop dancing through coaching the high school hip-hop team and participating in dance groups, some would say he danced through life, quite literally. Bryan's thoughtful nature was always on display, whether he was cooking up a storm, cheering on his favorite Twitch streamers, or engrossed in the latest anime series. His thoughtfulness and compassion extended to his career as an administrator at Seattle Children's Hospital.
Family was the star in Bryan's constellation. His love for his family was as expansive as the Pacific Ocean that bordered his home island of Oahu. His parents, Dante and Edna, and his brothers, David and Vince, were the anchors in his life, always at the heart of his loving and compassionate endeavors. Bryan was the glue that bound them together, always taking the lead in gathering the cousins and keeping everyone in the loop about family events. His love for his family was a clear reflection of a quote by Maya Angelou, "I sustain myself with the love of family."
Although Bryan's life was cut short, his spirit continues to dance on in the hearts of those who loved him. His memory, like his favorite K-Pop song, will remain a rhythm in our souls. We encourage everyone who knew Bryan to share their memories and photos on his memorial page, so we can keep the music of his life playing forever.
