Statement from Columbia Funeral Home
In the early morning hours of July 30, 2025, the family-owned Columbia Funeral Home experienced a devastating fire that authorities are currently investigating as an act of arson. We are deeply saddened by this incident and the impact it has had on our historic facility and the generations of families we serve.
Our team is actively assessing the situation and working diligently to contact every family whose loved one was in our care. We understand the trust placed in us during times of loss, and we are committed to upholding that trust with transparency, compassion, and urgency.
We are coordinating closely with our community partners and sister funeral homes to ensure that every loved one continues to receive the respectful and dignified care they deserve. Their care and safety remain our highest priority.
We thank the Seattle Fire Department and local authorities for their swift response and ongoing investigation. We also extend our heartfelt gratitude to our community for the outpouring of support during this difficult time.
Columbia Funeral Home has been a part of the Rainier Valley community since 1907, and we remain open for business and committed to serving local families with compassion and care, even in the face of this tragedy. While our historic building may be destroyed, our staff, the heart of who we are, remains available to serve. If you have any questions, need support, or find your family in a time of loss, we are here for you.
Further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
